Protect Your Legacy For The Future

You have worked hard to build a legacy you are proud of. No doubt, you hope to pass that legacy on to your loved ones. Maximizing your estate for your heirs requires careful planning and consideration. A complete estate plan will also take care of you as you age. Whether you need to pass on business interests or personal wealth, your plan should be well thought-out to achieve your goals.

The attorneys at Marquis Aurbach have been helping Nevada residents with asset protection and planning since 1972. We understand what is important to you and know how to create an estate plan that addresses all of your concerns and explain any unintended consequences you should be aware of.

Understanding Your Assets

At Marquis Aurbach, we will walk you through all of your assets so you understand your options for securing that asset both now and in the future. Different types of assets require different strategies. We will assist you in considering the following types of estate planning tools:

  • Will
  • Trusts
  • Beneficiary designations
  • Transfer on death deed
  • Business succession plan
  • Lifetime gifting
  • Family limited partnerships and family LLCs

We can tell you how these strategies may apply to your situation.

Take Care Of Yourself, As Well

A comprehensive estate plan does not only look out for your assets but plans for your own care, as well. Now is the time to decide who you would like to have provide that help. We recommend the following documents:

  • Durable Power of Attorney – This document allows you to name someone to make financial decisions on your behalf. You can make the document effective upon a certain event, like your incapacity.
  • Living Will – A living will is different from your regular will. It tells the medical staff what level of care you want in certain situations if you are unable to communicate your wishes.
  • Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care – Sometimes referred to as an advance directive, this document names a health care agent to advocate on your behalf with medical personnel when you cannot make decisions.

These documents can bring you great peace of mind regarding your own future care and assistance, and can ease the burden on your loved ones to know and understand how they can help you. You must sign the documents while you still have legal capacity to do so, however. We will gladly assist you with this important step in your estate plan.
